The Rand Group was established in 1994 with the founding of Rand Asia Sdn. Bhd., marking the beginning of a journey defined by strategic partnerships, innovation, and sustained growth. In its inaugural year, Rand Asia was appointed the Sole Distributor of Computerized Embroidery Digitizing Software by GMI Srl (Italy) for the Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and Brunei markets. In that same year, the company secured exclusive distributorships for Industrial and Commercial Computerized Embroidery Machines from Aisin Seiki Co. Ltd. (Toyota Group) and Brother Industries Ltd., covering Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei. These early milestones established Rand Asia as a trusted partner in the regional embroidery technology sector.

In 2008, Rand Group entered a new chapter of strategic expansion. The company was appointed the Sole Distributor in Malaysia and Brunei by several globally renowned manufacturers, which include HappyJapan Incorporation (Japan), Wilcom International Pte Ltd (Australia), Ricoma International Corporation (USA) and Tianjin Richpeace Co. Ltd. (China). This growth phase also saw the successful global launch of Rand Group’s own “GMI” branded Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) Industrial Embroidery Machines, reinforcing the Group’s transition from distributor to brand owner and manufacturer.

Today, Rand Asia commands approximately 68% of Malaysia’s market share in the Industrial and Commercial Computerized Embroidery Machine and Software segment. This leadership position is a testament to the Group’s enduring commitment to delivering world-class technology, expert support, and client-focused service.
